Job Title: Finance Clerk
Facility: Canadian Mental Health Association
Reports To: Director of Finance
Bargaining Unit: BCGEU
Wage: Grid 10 – $27.24/hr
Status: Full-Time (37.5hrs.week)

JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Clerk provides confidential, accurate, and timely financial and administrative support to the Finance department. This position is responsible for a range of accounting clerical functions including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and financial record
maintenance.
The position requires a high level of attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while meeting deadlines

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
• Process accounts payable and/or receivable transactions, including data entry, coding, and verification
• Reconcile vendor accounts, general ledger accounts, and program-related financial records
• Assist with monthly and periodic reconciliations (e.g., bank accounts, credit cards, program funds)
• Support payroll, invoicing, and billing processes as required
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and supporting documentation
• Maintain confidential and organized financial, employee, vendor, and program records (electronic and hard copy)
• Ensure data integrity within accounting systems and databases
• Support audit preparation through accurate file maintenance and documentation
• Assist in preparing financial reports, summaries, and supporting documentation
• Format reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence using Microsoft 365 tools
• Provide general administrative support to the Finance team
• Complete data entry tasks with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy
• Utilize accounting software (e.g., Business Central or equivalent) to process transactions
• Identify discrepancies and escalate issues to finance leadership as required
• Support continuous improvement of financial processes and workflows
• Work collaboratively with program teams, leadership, and external vendors
• Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training & Experience
• Certificate or diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, or business administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1–3 years of experience in accounting or financial administration
• Experience in non-profit or unionized environments is an asset
Skills & Abilities
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (particularly Excel and Word)
• Working knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., Business Central) preferred
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
