JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing complex accounting functions, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance activities. This role ensures accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information, provides guidance on accounting processes, and supports financial reporting, audits, and budgeting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting Oversight & Reconciliations
• Review and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Perform and review bank, investment, and restricted fund reconciliations.
• Ensure rent, rent subsidy, and rent bank reconciliations align with Business Central balances.
• Oversee reconciliation of payroll-related payables and expenses.
• Review program statements for accuracy and appropriate coding Rent Bank, Foundry & Program Accounting
• Oversee loan tracking, repayment processing, forecasting, and statistical reporting for Rent Bank.
• Review Foundry claims, invoice processing, and reconciliation to supporting summaries.
• Ensure compliance with funding requirements across housing and community programs.

Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports.
• Complete GST and other statutory or funder-required reports.
• Prepare semi-annual and annual program-specific reports.
• Prepare unit turnover, investment, and board-level summary reports.

Budgeting, Audit & Compliance
• Support annual budgeting by compiling, reviewing, and validating financial inputs.
• Provide audit support, including schedules, reconciliations, and explanations.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and funder requirements.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting policies and procedures.

Leadership & Process Improvement
• Provide functional guidance to Junior Accountant(s).
• Review work for accuracy and completeness.
• Identify efficiencies and improvements in accounting processes and controls.
• Act as a subject matter resource for program staff and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications
Education, Training & Experience
• Accounting designation (CPA or in progress) or equivalent experience.
• Advanced experience with reconciliations, reporting, and compliance.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Business Central and Excel.
• Ability to interpret financial data and explain results clearly.
• Strong judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
