On June 24, 2018, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Vernon Branch, will join communities across Canada for the 7th Annual “Ride Don’t Hide” event, the largest mental health bike ride in Canada. All funds raised, support mental health programs and services in our community.

The Ride Don’t Hide movement began on August 1, 2010, when Vernon native Michael Schratter embarked on a global journey to cycle 40,000 km, crossing six continents and 33 countries and raising funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Michael’s mission was to circumnavigate the world, sharing stories with people in different countries, and in doing so to bring attention and awareness to the stigma surrounding mental illness. People were invited to share their stories and make a promise to help end mental illness stigma on his website, where Michael shared photos, stories and reflections from the road.

For the first time since its inception, Michael will be in attendance to ride and speak to the participants.

Ride Don’t Hide is more than the name of the event, it’s also the reason we’re riding. When we hide, mental health stays hidden. When we ride, we create change. So this year, let’s join Michael on June 24, and ride in plain sight!
