The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Vernon regrets to announce that the 2026 Ride Don’t Hide cycling event will not proceed as scheduled on June 7, 2026.
This decision was made after careful consideration of ongoing logistical challenges, including the continued closure of a key route along Aberdeen Road, which impacts the organization’s ability to deliver a safe and accessible event for all participants.
Ride Don’t Hide has become a valued annual tradition in the North Okanagan, bringing together community members each June to raise awareness and funds for mental health. CMHA Vernon acknowledges the deep connection many participants, volunteers, and supporters have to this event and shares in the community’s disappointment.
Despite the cancellation of the in-person ride, the need for support remains urgent. Local youth aged 12–24 continue to rely on CMHA Vernon’s services every day, including counselling, wellness supports, social connection, and access to basic needs. CMHA Vernon is encouraged by the strong commitment already shown by riders and teams who have chosen to continue fundraising efforts in support of these essential programs and we are grateful for the support.
Community members are encouraged to continue making an impact in the following ways:
- Support a participant: Donate to a rider or team fundraising within your network
- Continue fundraising: Registered participants are encouraged to keep sharing their fundraising pages and personal stories
- Ride independently: Participants can choose their own time and route to ride in support of youth mental health
- Raise awareness: Help amplify the importance of youth mental health by sharing messages within your community
Donations can be made online HERE
Every contribution, regardless of size, directly supports local youth and helps ensure they are met with compassion, hope, and the care they deserve.
As CMHA Vernon continues its work toward the development of Foundry North Okanagan, anticipated for 2027, community support remains critical in building accessible, integrated youth mental health services in the region.
Even without the formal event, the spirit of Ride Don’t Hide continues.
Together, the community can still ride for change.
