Mental Health First Aid shares the same overall purposes as traditional first aid—to save lives. Created by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and delivered by experienced, professional, and engaging facilitators, this 2-day workshop includes:
- Explanations of mental health, mental illness, and mental health problems
- Signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and crisis situations
- Information about effective interventions and treatments
- Ways to access professional help.
Participants have the option of joining a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) workshop presented at CMHA-Vernon, or you can bring a MHFA workshop to your organization (minimum of 8 participants). Organizations can choose to run MHFA on 2 consecutive dates, 2 non-consecutive dates or 4 non-consecutive dates within a one-month period.
The course is delivered in person. A minimum of 8 participants and a maximum of 25 is required to organize a course. If you require a workshop for more than 25 participants another instructor can be arranged for additional costs.
Cost: For organizations arranging MHFA for staff the cost is $3,000 +$35.00 for materials per person. Subsidized group rate subsidized rate for those working in non-profit and Indigenous peoples) is $2,000 + $35.00 for materials per person. Individual rates are also available
