Vernon, BC – North Okanagan residents can make Christmas a little brighter for those receiving services from the Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon & District.

In the lead-up to the holidays, the public can provide monetary donations or new, unwrapped items that will be distributed among our participants and clients.

“For many, this can be a very isolating time of year, and this may be the only gift they receive at Christmas,” said Hannah Rail, CMHA Vernon’s recreation coordinator.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of North Okanagan residents, and their support of the Seasons of Giving campaign will make a significant difference in the lives of those navigating mental health.”

Last year, more than 200 participants received gifts through the campaign.

All monetary donations will go towards purchasing gifts for our participants. They can be made by cash or cheque at the CMHA office at 3100 28th Ave. or online at https://cmhavernon.ca/ways-to-get-involved/

For those wanting to donate a new unwrapped gift, here are some suggestions:

  • Winter gloves, scarfs, toques, socks, hand warmers
  • Board games, crossword/Sudoku books, journals, puzzles
  • Toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, combs
  • Small denomination gift cards from businesses such as restaurants or coffee shops.

Donations can be dropped off at CMHA Vernon, 3100 28th Ave. The deadline to submit donations is Nov. 30, 2023.
