Child and Youth Programs
About one in seven young people in BC will experience a mental illness at some point. More than half of mental illnesses show up before the age of 18, having a significant impact on a child’s development.
In the North Okanagan we have one of highest rates of youth suicide and opioid overdose in the province.
CMHA serves youth aged 7 to 18 offering prevention-based education sessions for youth and youth leaders in school and club settings to address youth substance use, mental health promotion and suicide prevention, equipping youth with knowledge and tools to help manage mental health and wellness through building relationships and providing a knowledge-base of community resources to access help.
